Murwillumbah Motor Inn has the Ukitopia Festival accommodation for you and any tribe you happen to be bringing.
You’ll find the village of Uki on the eastern side of Mount Warning just twenty minutes drive from Murwillumbah. Every year in September the hugely popular Ukitopia Festival happens — it is a weekend-long family-friendly festival that has activities and events that span across the performing and visual arts. Workshops during the weekend usually include pottery, jewellery making and collage and painting in one-hour “bite size” formats. Performances include children performers, music, dance, and art, and circus; and the Uki Buttery Bazaar Market, one of the the last of the 70s style markets in the area also runs during the festival; and features food, music and coffee, clothing books plants, second hand treasures and more.
With studio and apartment options we can arrange the right bedding configuration to suit your group or family. Studios can have queen beds, double single beds, a queen and two single beds, or two queen beds; and an apartment with two bedrooms consists of a queen bed in one room and two singles in the other. Every unit comes with television and Foxtel, an iPod dock, and light cooking facilities that include a microwave oven, refrigerator, a toaster and kettle for tea and coffee making.
Even if you intend to spend most of the weekend in Uki it’s good to know there are some truly excellent cafes in Murwillumbah to visit, with The Austral Cafe and Bakery, JuJu’s and The Modern Grocer. All of them serve great coffee with vegen, vegetarian and gluten free options for breakfast and lunch. There’s also Fresh Wholefoods organic food store on Wollumbin Street which offers lots of vegan grocery and snack items, as well as packaging-free ways to buy staples like rice, pasta and beans.
